My approach to counseling is tailored to the individual, incorporating evidence-based practices to ensure the best possible outcome.  

I truly believe nature is one of life's best healers.  Aside from spending time with horses, I find hiking, yoga, and baking to be excellent ways of managing stress and staying balanced both in work and in life.

Achieving your life goals can be challenging, especially when you're dealing with difficult emotions or feeling overwhelmed. The therapeutic approach is designed to help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in a confidential and supportive environment.    Developing a trusting relationship with your therapist will help you gain confidence and self-knowledge.  During self-knowledge you will understand how one’s thoughts affect behaviors.  Life is full of windy roads and we all need extra support at times. Perhaps what worked well before doesn’t anymore.  Think of it as building muscle; sometimes we have to exercise a muscle in a different way to achieve results.  I will work with you to develop personalized goals and strategies to help you learn how to problem solve independently and achieve lasting positive results while empowering you in your own change process. And though change can be scary, let's work together to learn the tools you need to feel better about yourself today.  

Families seek family therapy for many reasons.  Maybe you have found yourself in unfamiliar territory trying to navigate a chronic illness of a family member or have experienced the loss of someone close to you.  Or you may now be facing a mental health diagnosis within the family that may require some additional education and support.  

Sudden changes in our patterns of life can cause many conditions such as anxiety or depression.  It can be affecting you or everyone within your family structure.  Common conditions we see or experience during these times may be anger, frustration, panic attacks, health issues, substance abuse or a disruption in mood.  Children have a mixed array of behaviors from conduct problems at school, grades dropping and defiance.  

Communication is vulnerable and difficult.  Family therapy can clarify and encourage family members to listen and understand one another.  It can help you explore together to make positive changes especially when words and behaviors negatively impact your family.  

It’s important to understand that in every relationship, disagreements are normal. It is how we approach these disagreements that can make or break a partnership. You may have been trying things over and over with no change and increased resentment.   I believe that every couple has the potential to be the best version of themselves, both as individuals and as partners.  Therapy can provide a space to create honesty and trust to explore past experiences and build on strengths.  Working together in therapy can teach you skills for effective communication, empathetic listening, and conflict resolution.
